CONCEPT rendering
A supportive belt for competitive MX and ATV riding. I designed and developed this Support Belt from concept sketches to final photo sample. This was my first voyage designing in 3-Dimensional waters. Once rough sketches were approved, I took to Illustrator and fleshed out my renderings and elevations. Worked closely with developers & overseas manufactures to create the prototypes to final photo sample.
Goals for this project was to create an off-road support belt that gave support to the lower back and helped shield the kidneys from debris impact while creating maximum ventilation and comfort. An important feature are thin plastic pieces on the hips that flex in the middle, the wider ends hold to prevent the straps from folding over; this is a problematic with-in the off-road community.
Inspiration came from a Lobster tail. I wanted the bottom of the belt to conform to the small of the back when cinched tight. Like a lobster tail shell plates, they work in unison to protect the inner vitals. The narrowing of the belt in that area allows for a very comfortable fit while giving maximum protection to your lower back and vital organs.
